The second round opponent for Nigerian representative Rivers United has been determined after the team received a bye in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup’s preliminary round.

Due to their performance in the quarterfinals of the previous season, The Pride of Rivers received a bye into the second round.

The previous Nigeria Premier League champion’s second-round opponent has now been determined to be Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso.

By virtue of the away goal rule, the Burkinabe team defeated Casa Sports de Ziguinchor of Senegal.

The first game, played in Dakar, ended in a 1-1 tie, while the return match, played in Ouagadougou, also finished in a 0-0 draw.

Mid-September has been established as the date for the second-round match.
