Isreal Adesanya had a rough night after Sean Strickland, who is from Australia, defeated him to win the middleweight title in Sydney on Saturday.

At UFC 293, the 32-year-old incorporated steady forward motion with strong defence and clinical performance.

The American won by a score of 49-46 over Adesanya in this matchup on all three scorecards.

Strickland’s picture-perfect right cross in the first round knocked out the Nigerian-New Zealander.

After being knocked to the ground by the blow, Adesanya went in search of a finish.

Adesanya managed to live until the final buzzer, indicating that Strickland just missed landing the knockout punch.

Even though the subsequent rounds were close, Strickland always looked to be one step ahead of Adesanya, who when the outcome was determined applauded his overcomer through tears.
