African players abroad Mido: Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will move to Saudi Arabia

Former Premier League striker and Egypt legend Ahmed Hossam Mido believes Mohamed Salah will move to Saudi Arabia despite the failed move this summer.

Having been offered a deal that would see him become the highest-paid player in Saudi Arabia, Salah reportedly informed Liverpool of his desire to join Ittihad Jeddah. An official delegation from Ittihad traveled to Merseyside to negotiate with Liverpool over a transfer fee and offered an initial bid of £100m – rising to £150m, which was rejected.

However, it’s unlikely that the Saudi’s interest in the Egyptian is to go away, as reports have emerged stating that Ittihad are prepared to offer up to £200m in January. Former Spurs striker Mido agrees to the notion, stressing that by next summer Mohamed Salah will be a player in Saudi Arabia.

“Mohamed Salah will go to the Saudi Pro League, but it will be a good thing if he manages to win the Premier League title first this season,” said Mido as quoted by Kingfut, adding: “After the next season, he will have only one season left on his contract with Liverpool.

“Next year, Liverpool will not be able to ask for more than 70 or 80 or 100 million for the sale of Mohamed Salah, especially with only one year remaining in his contract.”

Salah had signed a new three-year contract with Liverpool in July 2022 worth around £350,000 per week.
