Skipper Mbwana Samatta and Haji Mnonga both missed good chances to stretch the lead in the second half of the game. As it stands, in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers, only Zambia and Tanzania have produced wins in their opening clashes.

Taifa Stars will host Morocco in their second fixture at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Tuesday.
