Uganda Vipers SC reclaim second spot in UPL as Kitara edge out NEC

Uganda Premier League defending champions, Vipers SC, are back in the second place after grinding out a narrow 1-0 victory against 10-man UPDF in Bombo on Sunday.

Livingstone Mulondo scored the game’s only goal in the 11th minute to see the Venoms leapfrog Kitara a day after the Masindi-based side had dislodged the Venoms. Bright Anukani set up the eventual Man of the Match, Mulondo, for the visitors to claim their sixth win in nine matches.

At 20 points, Vipers are now four behind leaders BUL, while UPDF – who were losing their fifth in nine – remain 13th on eight points. It was double pain for UPDF, who played the last 23 minutes with 10 men after Aggrey Kirya was sent off following a second yellow card.
