The transaction was initially alluded at by the president on Friday night when he told TG1 that it might be his fans’ “surprise gift under the Christmas tree.”

Osimhen will reportedly receive a rise in pay of €10 million every season after taxes.

A release clause will also be included; it is estimated to be worth between €120 and €130 million and will only apply to clubs outside of Italy in the summer.

In September 2020, Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille for €75 million plus bonuses.

With 26 goals in the previous season, he was the top scorer and the first African to do so.

For the first time since 1990, Napoli won the Serie A championship thanks in large part to his outstanding play in front of goal.

He was also named the 2023 CAF Player of the Year, becoming him the first Super Eagles player to do so since Nwankwo Kanu way back in 1999.
