Alexis Mac Allister’s stunning strike against Fulham has won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for December.
The Liverpool midfielder opened his account for the club with a dipping effort from 27 yards during the first half of that dramatic 4-3 victory at Anfield.
His goal emerged as the winner from eight contenders – including Wataru Endo’s curler in front of the Kop in the same game – to claim the prize. “I’m very happy because there were so many nice goals during this month,” Mac Allister said after collecting the award.
“But thank you to the fans and everyone that voted for this goal to be Goal of the Month.”[It’s] not a bad one to be the first [goal] at the club! Definitely one of the nicest goals I’ve scored in my career so far. It’s a nice one.
“I think on the pitch I didn’t realise how good it was. Then when I saw the replay, I could see how good it was. Very happy and hopefully many more to come.”
