Kenya AFC Leopards and Kenya Police face off for a place in final

With the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League taking a break to pave the way for the FIFA international break, AFC Leopards and Kenya Police will face off in the semi-finals of the Mozzart Bet Cup at Police Sacco Stadium on Sunday.

Kariobangi Sharks will come up against KCB in the other semis clash at the same venue. Ingwe and the law enforcers will be facing off in two weeks, the last meeting in the league ending 1-0 in favour of the former at the new Dandora Stadium on May 15.

The game’s outcome saw Ingwe end Police’s 20-game unbeaten run in all competitions under coach Salim Babu. Further, it dented their slim hopes of winning their maiden league title as reigning champions Gor Mahia went on to be crowned with an unassailable 67 points.

While Police hammered fellow Premier League side Sofapaka 4-0 to reach the last four, Ingwe cruised past division one minnows Compel FC 3-1 to qualify.

Focus will be on Ingwe striker Arthur Gitego, who is currently topping the Cup’s scorers’ chart with five goals, while Tito Okello, who has scored three, will spearhead the law enforcers, as they hunt for their first major title.

For Sharks, they will be seeking to play in another final when they face the Bankers. Sharks under coach William Muluya will bank their success on free-scoring striker John Mark Makwatta while Derrick Otanga will be the man to lead the Bankers.
