FA Cup Man City players will bounce back from FA Cup setback – Guardiola

Pep Guardiola is confident Manchester City players will bounce back quickly in the 2024-25 campaign from our FA Cup final defeat.

City missed out on the chance to become the first men’s side in English football history to claim back-to-back Doubles after losing 2-1 to Manchester United at Wembley.

“We talk and now we are sad, but we celebrate what an incredible achievement we have done and come back,” Guardiola reflected in his post-match press conference. “In football and in life you win and lose but like in the second half we never gave up.

“The feeling of course when you lose a final you are disappointed, but we celebrated this week the joy of the Premier League.

“We make 91 points because we have won a lot of points, in general really, really good. You have to be so proud and to celebrate what we have done.”

City were the dominant force after the break, with Jeremy Doku’s late effort providing a glimmer of hope as stoppage time approached.

Guardiola’s men had gone close before the Belgian’s strike, with Erling Haaland smashing an effort against the bar having seen strong claims for a penalty waved away.
