Transfer window Man United Join Race For Adejenughure Signature

Manchester United are reportedly in talks with the representatives of Nigerian-Austrian teenager Oghenetejiri Adejenughure about a move to Old Trafford this summer.

The 17-year-old is under contract with Red Bull Salzburg, although he has yet to make an appearance for the Austrian club’s first squad.

Adejenughure did, however, score 16 goals in 20 matches for the Under-18s last season, and he has eight goals in 12 appearances for the Austria Under-17s.

A number of clubs, including AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, are thought to be watching the forward, but The Express reports that Manchester United is also quite interested.

According to the report, the Red Devils have met with the teenager’s advisors to discuss the potential of joining the 20-time English champions.

Austrian head coach Ralf Rangnick, who formerly served as interim manager of Manchester United, is said to have identified the boy as a future star.

If Adejenughure stays in Salzburg this summer, he will most likely play for the club’s reserve team in Austria’s second level, but a number of clubs appear to be interested in a deal.

The kid, who is also eligible to represent Nigeria, is reportedly close to receiving a senior call-up to Austria, and the 2024/24 season is expected to be a breakthrough season for the in-demand forward.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Man United’s new minority shareholder, is seeking youth as part of his strategy at Old Trafford, with the club no longer expected to pay hefty payments for aged veterans.

Rasmus Hojlund, 21, was the club’s best scorer in his rookie season, with 16 goals in all competitions.

Alejandro Garnacho, 19, had 10 goals and five assists in 50 appearances in 2023-24, while 19-year-old Kobbie Mainoo had five goals and one assist in 32 games.
