Africa Soccer DR Congo : Sebastien Desabre has 6 months unpaid salaries – Staff member reveals

French coach Sebastien Desabre is said to be on his sixth month without been paid his salary at the helm of Democratic Republic of Congo national team.

Desabre was appointed as DR Congo head coach in 2022 and he led Yoane Wissa and teammates to a fourth-place finish in the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast losing to Hugo Broos’ South Africa in the third place match.

His work is unanimously recognized as an amazing one back in Congo and the Leopards are on the right way in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 5 points out of 4 games.

Yet, Sebastien Desabre is doing it without been paid over the last six months, DR Congo Team manager revealed in a recent interview.

“According to FIFA, if a coach is unpaid for two consecutive months, the contract can be terminated. At the beginning of June, Desabre accumulated 6 months of arrears”, Dodo Landu said, as per Africa Top Sports French website.

“He could have left free if he wanted and we would have been ordered to pay him his entire contract. [However] money is not important to the coach. He has a vision for the country’s football in agreement with the head of state himself. »

As a reminder, Sebastien Desabre has a €41000 month salary with DR Congo and his contract runs until 2025.
