Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 50th goal of 2023 in a 5-2 win away at Al-Shabab in the quarter-finals of Saudi Arabia’s King Cup at Al Shabab Club Stadium on Monday.
The 38-year-old played a slick one-two with fellow Portugal international Otavio before burying a low shot from 10 yards in the 74th minute. That made the score 4-1 to Al Nassr after earlier strikes from Seko Fofana, Sadio Mane, and Abdulrahman Ghareeb.
Ronaldo struck 16 minutes from the end of a quieter second half, Portugal team-mate Otavio locating his run with an exceptional pass to complete a slick one-two and allow the Saudi Pro League top scorer to slot in. Substitute Hattan Behabri stabbed a late consolation for Al Shabab, who missed a succession of presentable chances before Mane shrugged off his marker to reach a ball on the edge of the penalty area and set up Maran, who had replaced Ronaldo, for Al Nassr’s fifth.
Al Nassr are next in action when they host eighth-placed Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq, who are managed by Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard and captained by Three Lions midfielder Jordan Henderson, on December 22.
