African players abroad Mozambican defender Mandava in impressive Atletico Madrid win

Mozambican left-back Reinildo Mandava put in a great shift for Atletico Madrid as the La Liga champions pushed aside Osasuna 3-0 on Saturday evening.

It was the 28-year-old Mandava’s fourth game for Atletico since his dream move from Lille in France weeks ago on a three-year contract.

The Mozambican helped keep the defence tight and added numbers in attack for Atletico who eventually scored through João Félix, Luis Suárez and Ángel Correa at El Sadar Stadium.

The Portuguese midfielder Felix scored barely after three minutes into the game as Atletico led 1-0 at half time.

Thereafter, the former Barcelona striker found the back of the net with a stunning 40-meter chip past Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera in the 59th minute.

    The Diego Simeone men remain fourth, 15 points behind leaders      Real Madrid.

Atletico welcome Manchester United this Wednesday at the Wanda Metropolitano in Uefa Champions League last 16 match.
