Victor Osimhen was the hero for Napoli as he scored the crucial goal to secure a 3-2 victory over Bologna and return his team to the top of Serie A.

Since his injury comeback, Osimhen has now scored in back-to-back games.

This season, the Super Eagles attacker has three goals in six appearances in the Italian top division.

Napoli moved ahead of Atalanta (on 26 points) with the victory over Bologna (on 24 points).

On the 41st minute, Dominguez gave Bologna the startling advantage by letting Andrea Cambiaso slip the offside trap down the left, and he then brought it back for Joshua Zirkzee to drill from 15 yards through a sea of legs.

It didn’t last long, though, as Napoli tied the score just before halftime.

Juan Jesus was the first to respond, scuffing in from six yards after a corner bounced off Gary Medel’s shinpads.

After the intermission, Osimhen and Chucky Lozano entered the game, and their introductions proved crucial as Napoli moved up 2-1 in the 49th minute.

Kvaratskhelia made a left-handed inside cut, and Lukasz Skorupski only parried his angled shot.

Osimhen was unable to recover the loose ball, but Lozano scored.

Bologna was able to draw even again thanks to Musa Barrow’s optimistic long-range drive that deflected in front of Alex Meret and through his hands and into the bottom left corner after the goalkeeper erred in judgment.

Osimhen’s soaring header was hugely saved by Skorupski, Kvaratskhelia’s attempt took two deflections and dribbled inches wide, and from the resulting corner, neither Osimhen nor Juan Jesus could find the back of the net.

The winning goal for Napoli was scored by Osimhen in the 69th minute when Kvaratskhelia expertly weighted the through ball so that it got past Kevin Bonifazi and Osimhen dinked it past the charging goalie, Napoli regained the lead when Di Lorenzo stung Skorupski’s gloves at the near post.
