Egyptian Players abroad Salah Makes History As Liverpool Ends Man City Unbeaten

Mohamed Salah entered the Premier League history book on Sunday as he became the only second player to score 100+ left-footed goals, after Robbie Fowler (105).

Salah goal made the difference as Liverpool overcame their previous Premier League problems to snap Manchester City’s winning streak in a thrilling and contentious match at Anfield.

Erling Haaland’s goals put Manchester City in a strong position, but Liverpool overcame the defending champions by finding their form, which had been missing for much of the season.

Haaland, for once, did not score, and it was Liverpool’s talisman Mohamed Salah who made the decisive contribution. After Joao Cancelo slipped, Salah raced on to a clearance from the goalkeeper Alisson and beat Ederson with a cool finish with 14 minutes remaining.

Salah was earlier denied by Ederson in a similar one-on-one position, and City boss Pep Guardiola was incensed that a goal by Phil Foden that would have given his team the lead was disallowed due to Haaland’s foul on Fabinho.

Despite forcing two saves from Alisson, Haaland’s day was not to be; nevertheless, Liverpool finally displayed why they have constantly been City’s strongest threat, and Anfield was filled with joy.

Klopp was dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor for his complaints during the tense conclusion when he felt Salah had been fouled, but once the heat has subsided, he will be ecstatic about a convincing victory.
