Nigeria AFN To Hold Extraordinary Congress In Abuja May 25

On May 25, an extra-ordinary congress of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) will take place in Abuja.

The meeting is being held at the request of Tonobok Okowa, the federation’s president, according to the notice of meeting issued by Rita Moshindi, its secretary general.

“I am directed by the President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria to call for an emergency Congress of all Chairmen and Secretary of State Athletics Association.

“The objective of this Extra-Ordinary Congress is to address an important Constitutional matter,” wrote Moshindi in the notice of the meeting.

The AFN convened an ordinary congress in Abuja just two months before to the conference.

The AFN has changed the dates of its Golden League meetings in the meanwhile.

The first of the three Golden League matches will take place between May 25 and 26 at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola stadium. Alongside the gathering, there will be an anti-doping seminar.

The second leg of the match will be held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin on June 7-8, and the final leg will be held in Asaba on June 23–24.

Between July 6 and July 9, in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom, will take place the Nigeria Track and Field Championships, which will act as selection trials for the 19th World Athletics Championships in August.
