After defeating Sao Tome and Principe on the road, the Guinea Bissau Djuturs put one foot in the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The Guineans, who entered the game one point behind Nigeria’s Super Eagle and with seven points, now lead the group after their victory.

From the moment the whistle blew, Sao Tome took the game to the Guineans. The first half was fiercely contested and ended in a scoreless draw.

In the second half, the away team took control of the match and scored the crucial goal through Zinho’s shot in the 55th minute.

The game finished 0-1, but the host had a chance to tie it up but found it tough to breach Guinea-Bissau’s defense.

With 10 points after the victory, Guinea Bissau now leads the group, moving Super Eagle down to second with 9 points.

On Sunday, the Super Eagles take on Sierra Leone, and if they draw, they will qualify for the competition in Ivory Coast.
