AFCON CAF Appoints Mahmood Ali For Sierra Leone Vs Nigeria Game

The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone and the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play each other in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday, and the match will be officiated by Sudanese official Mahmood Ali Ismail.

Mohammed Abdallah Ibrahim, a fellow countryman of Ismail, will serve as assistant referee 1, Djibouti’s Liban Abdourazak Ahmed will serve as assistant referee 2, and Mohamed Diraneh Guedi, also from Djibouti, will serve as fourth official.

Bakary Jammeh of the Gambia will act as the commissioner, and Kokou Djaoupe of Togo will be the referee assessor.

The Leone Stars scored first during the teams’ matchup on Day 1 of the current series at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja a year ago, but goals from Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen gave Nigeria the lead.

The Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia will serve as the location of the game.
