FIFA World Cup Oshoala headlines Super Falcons’ squad for Women’s World Cup

FC Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala is leading the final Nigeria squad for the Fifa Women’s World Cup set for Australia and New Zealand.

The 28-year-old Oshoala, who recently lifted the Uefa Women’s Champions League title with the Spanish side, is headlining the 23-strong squad that also includes Onome Ebi and Desire Oparanozie, who features for Wuhan Chegu Jianghan in China and is making a return to the team.

The tournament will begin on July 20, with Nigeria kicking off their campaign to win the trophy against Canada in Melbourne a day later before facing Australia and the Republic of Ireland in Brisbane.

South Africa, who will be making their second appearance on the World Cup stage. have been paired in a tough Group G against Sweden, Italy, and Argentina while debutants Zambia will be in Group C alongside 2011 world champions Japan, Spain, and Costa Rica.

Africa’s other representative Morocco will be in Group H alongside Germany, Colombia, and South Korea.
