Kenya Tanzania league attractive, financially stable than Kenya – Muguna

Kenya midfielder Kenneth Muguna has confessed that Tanzania Premier League is currently very attractive than that of Kenya.

The 27-year-old, who is returning home after ending his two-year stay with Azam FC in the Mainland top-flight, believes most players in Kenya are currently jostling to play in the league because it is financially stable and well organised.

“As of now, speaking of now, Tanzania league is up there than that of Kenya,” Muguna told Arocho Live during an interview on Friday, adding: “If you look, we have been out for one year or so [due to Fifa ban], it brought Kenyan league down because we were not playing, so, for now, Tanzania league is way better than that of Kenya.”

The former Gor Mahia midfielder added: “Furthermore if you look at the performance of their respective clubs in continental action [Caf competitions], and if you look at how their league is organised, it is way above what we do in Kenya because it is very attractive and every player now wants to go and play there.”

On if Tanzania league is financially stable than that of Kenya, Muguna said: “Yes…financially, they [Tanzania] are doing very well, clubs pay players on time, I have not heard any team where players are making noise they have not been paid, Tanzania have done very well in that sector.”

Muguna further discussed his future insisting he will take a rest before he starts to plan.

“I need to rest, I want to go home and see my family, I want to check out some of the projects that I am working on back home, and then return to Nairobi to start planning for the future,” added Muguna.

He made headlines on July 21, 2021, when he joined the Ice Cream Makers on a two-year deal from K’Ogalo. He was part of Harambee Stars squad for the Four-Nation tournament in Mauritius but he did not make the trip.
