Congo coach Cyril Ndonga has revealed their determination to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Guinea in their second match of the Caf U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Tuesday.

The Congolese side opened their Group A campaign with a 3-2 defeat against Ghana while Guinea also suffered a 2-1 loss against hosts Morocco. “Our approach to this match will mirror that of a final against our Guinean counterparts,” Ndonga said during an interview ahead of the game as quoted by CafOnline, adding: “In modern football, fortunes can change rapidly. Argentina’s victorious journey in the last Fifa World Cup began with an initial defeat. Therefore, it falls upon us to exhibit efficiency on the field.”

Ndonga admitted they have worked on mistakes spotted from their first defeat, insisting: “We are determined to witness the Warriors of Guinea crumble on the pitch, and I am impressed that we have done everything to rectify where we did wrong against Ghana.”

Ndonga’s sentiments were echoed by Congo captain Berlhod Mbemba, who asserted the team’s resolve to bounce back from the opening result and secure a triumph in the upcoming match of the competition.
