Tanzania Done Deal: Yanga SC get Gift from Uganda’s SC Villa

Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) have signed Ugandan center-back Gift Fred on a three-year contract.

The towering defender signed for the champions on a free transfer from SC Villa of Uganda. He was paraded to the public on Tuesday through the club’s verified Instagram page and Twitter account.

Until now, Fred is the first foreign-based player to land at the club in the ongoing transfer window. He joins fellow Ugandan teammate Khalid Aucho, among dependable holding midfielders for Yanga. Already, the Jangwani street side have made one domestic signing of Nickson Kibabage.

Meanwhile, Simba SC defender Shomari Kapombe has signed a contract extension with the Wekundu wa Msimbazi that sees him remain for the next two seasons. The 31-year-old fullback joined the team in 2017 from Azam FC. His newly signed contract will put him in the club until 2025.

Apart from being a solid fullback, Kapombe has also played a key role in his squad, pocketing eight assists in the last Premier League season. He is placed third in the table of players with more assists during the 2022-23 season. His teammates: Clatous Chama leads with 14 assists and Saido Ntibazonkiza with twelve assists.
