Uncategorised Pochettino Confirms Mudryk, Caicedo Ready For Burnley Game

Chelsea manager Maurico Pochettino announced on Friday that Moises Caicedo and Mykhailo Mudryk, who both had injury concerns following the most recent game, will be part of the squad for the Premier League match at Burnley.

Monday’s 2-0 victory over Fulham saw Mudryk removed at halftime, and Caicedo was brought off in the dying seconds after collapsing and clutching his knee.

“Yes, both are in the squad, we will decide later whether they have a chance of starting,” Pochettino told reporters ahead of Saturday’s game.

“This week they trained well, I still have not decided. I need to check with the medical staff as I came straight from the training pitch.”

In the match against Fulham, Mudryk scored his first goal for Chelsea, providing a much-needed boost for a team that had only scored five goals in its previous six Premier League games.

“He is improving like all of the players. Every single player has special circumstances,” Pochettino said.

“In three months we try to help, to train, it’s a big job to try to understand everyone and to apply things that we believe can help the individual to perform.”

Another player who scored his first goal of the year in Monday’s victory was Armando Broja, who did it in just his second league game after returning from a cruciate ligament injury.

“We know now for three months when you start to feel the player in a training session you can feel the potential. Now it’s about how he recovers,” the Argentine manager said.

“He is a very talented player, we trust him, that’s why he played against Fulham, and maybe tomorrow.”

The management must now decide whether to remain with Broja or reinstate Nicolas Jackson, who was suspended for the encounter on Monday.

“We already took the decision and they know. You will see tomorrow,” Pochettino said.

The boss will be hoping his team can keep up their present form after the win over Fulham, which came after a League Cup triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion. Chelsea have yet to win two straight league games this season.

“It’s a good opportunity to win again and to feel the victory and for us the three points are important,” he said.

“Of course we want momentum. We would go to the international break with a different feeling to the last one, it is really important to win the game.”

Burnley, who are now in 18th place with four points, visit Chelsea, who are currently 11th with eight points.
