Nigeria Premier League NPFL: Akwa United Gets First Win As Remo Stars Beat Shooting Stars

The midweek Matchday 6 matches of the NPFL scheduled for Wednesday, concluded with a few surprising late wins as Akwa United got their first win of the season.

Matchday 6 produced only 16 goals with Remo Stars recording the highest goal by margin in their 3-0 drubbing of Shooting Stars in the Southwest derby.

Kwara United and Sunshine Stars emerged victorious in the closing moments, coming back from behind to secure crucial victory.

At the Ilorin Sports Complex Stadium in Ilorin, Kwara United overcame a goal deficit to defeat Sporting Lagos 2-1.

Jonathan Alukwu gave Sporting the lead in under 59 seconds with a superb finish inside the box to make it 1-0.

However, in the 45th and 85th minutes, Ejeh Isiah and Ifeanyi Odiiannga scored two goals for Kwara United in response.

While in Akure, Sunshine Stars defeated Abia Warriors 2-1 thanks to a penalty kick made by Michael Olalusi in the 90+5 minute.

Osonugwu Adejoh gave the visitors an early advantage in less than fifteen minutes. Before Ekerette Udom gave the Akure Gunners a 1-1 lead in the 38th minute.

In the last moments of extra time, Abia Warriors defender Collins Nwoburuoke handled the ball inside his box, awarding the hosts a penalty.
