Women Football CAFWCL: Mamelodi Sundowns Down AS Far To Reach Final

After eliminating AS Far in the CAF Women’s Champions League on Wednesday night, Mamelodi Sundowns will play in their third consecutive CAF Women’s Champions League final.

Even though advancing to the finals was the primary goal, the South Africans, who had lost their champion title to AS Far in the previous season’s championships where AS Far emerged victorious, considered this game as something of a revenge match.

Both teams played cautiously as the match ended in a goalless draw after an evenly matched first half with nothing separating them as one may have predicted.

Following the break, both teams were a little more daring in their pursuit of the advantage.

But in the 73rd minute, Boitumelo Rabale of South Africa scored the game’s lone goal, sending her team into the championship round of Africa’s top women’s club league.

Due to the tragic outcome, AS Far will have to make do with the chance to compete for the bronze on Saturday night.
