CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAFCC: Rivers United To File Appeal To Use Port Harcourt As Home Ground

The general manager of Rivers United Okey Kapalukwu, Nigeria’s CAF Confederation Cup participant, has stated that the team will file an appeal with the African soccer governing body to be allowed to play their home games at their home field in Port-Harcourt.

The Pride of Rivers started playing their home games at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo due to the disapproval of Adoke Amasiamaka Stadium in Port-Harcourt.

The majority of the fields they have played on, according to Kapalukwu, are not superior to their home field.

“We will once again appeal through the appropriate channel, the Nigeria Football Federation interface with CAF to allow us play in Port Harcourt because our stadium meets all their requirements.”

“My (our) pitch at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt is better than several other pitches that we played on, in the continent, including that of Sunday’s game in Kumasi, Ghana, yet CAF approved it for the club because they have their people upstairs protecting their interests in CAF,” Kpalukwu said.

Rivers United Will play against Young Africain in Matchday 3 of the CAF Confederation Cup.
