Uganda KCCA FC return to winning ways with Bright Stars victory

KCCA FC won only their third match of the 2023-24 Ugandan Premier League season when they thrashed visiting Soltilo Bright Stars 3-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Tuesday.

Usama Arafat’s first-half goal and two late ones from Pilsner Man of the Match Mohammad Shaban and Emmanuel Loki were enough to alleviate the pain from the 2-1 defeat to Mbarara City in their previous outing.

The result helps coach Abdallah Mubiru’s men get out of the bottom three to 13th on 10 points, a massive 16 from leaders BUL – both having played 11 matches. Bright Stars, who were suffering their fourth defeat of the season in 11 matches, remain 11th with as many points.

Elsewhere in Masindi, Kitara continued their impressive start to the Premier League by beating Express 1-0 to leapfrog NEC – once again – into third place on 22 points. Paul Mucureezi scored the winner in the 36th minute. Express stays eighth on 13.
