Tusker head coach Robert Matano has called on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to discipline or expel referee David Mulongo, who officiated their Premier League fixture against Posta Rangers at Ruaraka grounds on Sunday.

In the game that ended in a 0-0 draw, a fuming Matano castigated referee Mulongo for poor officiating claiming he had denied his team three clear penalties and further stated he was one of the most incompetent and poorest referees he had ever come across during his entire career as a player and now a coach.

“Very poor referee, the poorest of all,” said Matano, who was yellow carded by Mulango during the game for a heated exchange, adding: “I have never seen or came across a referee like this Mulongo since I started playing football and now being a coach. Useless referee! How come everyone sees (we deserved three penalties), but one person cannot see?”

Matano further insisted the Brewers had been robbed in the game by saying: “I have lost many matches but I did not complain, but this one is obvious robbery, direct daylight robbery and I will stand by my words. This referee is poor and he does it purposefully. It is not like he does not know what he is doing if you read his mind.”

He then called on FKF to investigate Mulongo, insisting he had either been bribed and should be suspended or expelled. “This one should be suspended, or the best decision is to have him expelled. He has no room officiating football. He is killing football! He killed the spirit of the players,” adding: “We are working hard to win but he is coming here like he is bribed or what do we say? He makes sure that we cannot win. Posta Rangers did not get even a single chance.”

However, Posta head coach John Kamau disagreed with Matano on his claims by blaming the Ruaraka pitch for the turn of events. “At some point, as coaches, fair enough, maybe this game did not go the way you wanted or rather did not get the results that you needed but also we should be in a position to harness our emotions,” adding: “The only request(s) that I would like to make is that one, can he (Matano) be in a position to make sure we do not play a match on this ground. This is not a football pitch.”

Tusker will return to action with a mid-week fixture against Bidco United today while Posta will host Muhoroni Youth on Sunday.
