Congo DR will play Guinea on Friday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium. The team has advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals without winning a match during regulation time.

Seven-time champion Egypt was eliminated by the Leopards in the round of 16, and Syli National’s victory over Equatorial Guinea broke their losing streak in the competition’s opening elimination round.

Intriguingly, Guinea advanced to the knockout stages as the top-seeded team in the competition. They now enter the quarterfinals as the lone team from Group C standing after Senegal and Cameroon were eliminated by Nigeria and Ivory Coast, respectively.

Now that they have broken their knockout curse, Diawara’s team aims to advance to the AFCON 2023 semifinals, where they may play either Mali or the tournament hosts.
