Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro praised his troops for their tenacity in the face of a formidable Angolan squad.

Ademola Lookman’s game-winning goal gave the Super Eagles a 1-0 victory over Angola, guaranteeing them a spot in the semi-final.

The Portuguese coach acknowledged that the Palancas Negras are a strong team during the post-match press conference.

” They created more chances and they got the first corner, their ball also hit the post which represented the quality of their ( Angola) team.

“Once again we didn’t concede a goal and we scored once again, we created more chances, especially in the first half and we controlled the opponent.

“In the second half, we wanted to create more chances in the attack but the Angolans put more people in their defence.

“Angola also put more players on the attack but we could have scored more goals

“But I congratulate my players for the victory well deserved and also Angola for the good game”, he said.

The Super Eagles will play against the winner of Saturday quarter final game between South Africa and Cape Verde.
