Olympic Games Banyana Banyana Beat Tanzania To Edge Closer To Paris 2024 Olympics

Banyana Banyana of South Africa claimed a 3-0 advantage against the Twigas Stars in the CAF Women’s 2024 Olympic qualifiers on Friday at the Azam Complex Stadium in Tanzania.

A goal from Jermaine Seoposenwe in the first half and two goals from Thembi Kgatlana and Hildah Magaia was enough to hand the reigning Africa Women Champions the victory.

The hosts were no match to the Banyana Banyana who are one step from reaching Paris 2024 Olympic games.

It was the first game for the reigning African women Football champions who continued their dominance over Tanzania.

The last time both teams faced off was in 2014 in a friendly where Banyana Banyana thrashed Tanzania 6-1.

The visitors took control of the game from the start of the game and just ten minutes of action, Jermaine Seoposenwe gave her side the lead.

Banyana Banyana continued to push in order to double the lead but to no avail as the first half ended with just one goal which separated both teams.

To be more offensive, coach Ellis Desiree introduced Amogelang Motau to replace Kholosa Biyana.

In the 57th minute, South Africa doubled the lead through their talisman, Kgatlana and with four minutes to the stipulated time, Magaia iced the cake with the third goal of the game to give Banyana Banyana a comfortable win.

South Africa will host Tanzania in the second leg on 27th of February 2024 at Mbombela Stadium.
