Tanzania Simba SC title charge suffer huge blow with Namungo FC draw

An own goal by Simba SC’s center-back Kennedy Juma awarded Namungo FC a hard earned 2-2 Tanzania Premier League draw and dented the former’s chances of winning the title at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, Lindi on Tuesday.

Lack of coordination between Juma and his goalie Ayoub Lakred resulted the former to steer the ball into his own net in the 89th minute. However, Willy Onana struck first in the 33rd minute to put his side upfront before an equaliser by kelvin Sabato six minutes later.

In the second half, Edwin Balua doubled the tally for the visitors courtesy of a well crafted set-piece. As sports fraternity believed that the game was done for Simba, a late drama erupted that astonished everyone.

As it stands, Simba remained third on the table with 47 points from 22 matches and are 15 points adrift leaders Young Africans.(Yanga SC), who have amassed 62 points from 24 games.
