Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy battled to a thrilling 2-2 draw in their DStv Premiership clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday.

The match kicked off with Kaizer Chiefs taking an early lead, courtesy of Ranga Chivaviro’s 18th-minute strike, exploiting Mpho Mvelase’s momentary lapse in defence. However, their joy was short-lived as Amakhosi’s captain, Edmilson Dove, conceded a penalty just four minutes later due to a handball, allowing Siphiwe Mahlangu to coolly slot in the equalizer.

Chiefs’ woes compounded as Dove was shown a red card just before halftime, reducing them to ten men after a second yellow card for a challenge on Kamogelo Sebelebele. Despite opportunities like Njabulo Ngcobo’s near-miss from an Mdu Shabalala pass, the Galaxy goalkeeper pulled off exceptional saves to keep the scoreline level.

In the second half, Cavin Johnson’s tactical substitution of Thatoyaone Ditlhokwe for Christian Saile injected new energy into the hosts. Chivaviro capitalized on a set-piece opportunity, netting his second goal of the night and restoring Chiefs’ lead early in the half.

However, Galaxy refused to back down, responding emphatically with Mahlangu scoring his second goal of the match, this time with a header from a Samir Nurkovic corner.

For Kaizer Chiefs, this match marked their second consecutive game finishing with ten men, following Given Msimango’s red card in their previous encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns. Despite the challenges, the team fought valiantly, showcasing their depth and determination.

As the final whistle blew, the result left Cavin Johnson’s men in eighth place on the log, with 34 points from 27 matches, while TS Galaxy maintained their fifth position with 39 points and a game in hand.
