Nigeria Flamingos Visit Orphanage Before Jetting Off To Bamako

The Nigeria U17 girls, known as Flamingos, visited a care facility in Abuja on Wednesday.

While there, they gave the kids gifts and a message of hope.

In a statement, the Nigeria Football Federation’s Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, said: “As goodwill ambassadors, they aimed to raise the children’s spirits and spread joy, highlighting the true essence of sports beyond the pitch.”

“Their visit not only made the day of the young residents but also fostered a sense of community and compassion, illustrating the power of sport to unite and inspire.”

Assistant coach Adanna Nwaneri addressed the children, saying, “You can be the next person in these jerseys (Nigeria kits) representing the country and making us proud on the international stage.

” On Thursday morning, the Flamingos took off from Abuja on an Air Cote d’Ivoire flight bound for Bamako, Mali.

They will play the opening leg of a FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup third-round qualifying match against their Burkinabe opponents on Saturday at the Stade 26 March.
