Nigeria Premier League NPFL: Rivers United Return To Winning Ways After Win Against Tornadoes

After suffering in recent games, Rivers United has finally returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL.

The Pride of Rivers has suffered consecutive defeats to the Sunshine Stars and the Abia Warriors in the last two matches.

On Sunday, the Rivers State club faced the Niger Tornadoes in their final rescheduled game and won 3-2.

Skipper Nyima Nwagua put the hosts ahead in the 16th minute, and Udom Ekrette made it 2-0 in the 21st minute.

Clinton Jephta scored the third goal in the 60th minute, and Sadiq Abubakar closed the gap in the 63rd minute.

The mood became tense in the 77th minute, when Bashir Usman converted a penalty to make it 3-2.

Tornadoes poured everything forward in pursuit of an equaliser, but were unable to crack the host’s backline, and the game finished 3-2.
