Nigerian Players abroad Sadiq Sets To Leave Real Sociedad After Difficult Season

Umar Sadiq is said to have decided to leave Real Sociedad despite his record signing deal with the Spanish LaLiga club. Sadiq has had a difficult time in Donostia-San Sebastian.

While many players prosper at the Reale Arena, his season has only lasted 1,363 minutes and produced three goals.

The 27-year-old Nigerian striker joined from Almeria for €20 million + €5 million in variables two summers ago, replacing Alexander Isak, but an anterior cruciate ligament injury held him out for much of his first season, and he has struggled to find his rhythm in his second.

According to Spanish source Relevo, Sadiq has requested to leave the club this summer, and Getafe are his most likely suitors, with a loan deal in the works.

Getafe is eager to strengthen their forward line, and a loan benefits both parties.

Getafe lost Enes Unal to Bournemouth this season, Borja Mayoral is recovering from surgery, and Jaime Mata is another year older.

If Sadiq leaves, La Real will need to rebuild their frontline.

Andre Silva will return to RB Leipzig after his loan, while Carlos Fernandez remains injured, leaving them without a natural number nine.
