Lautaro Martinez, Inter Milan’s captain and top striker in Serie A 2023-24, was selected the season’s most valuable player (MVP) by the Italian top flight league on Friday.

The Argentina international had 24 goals in Inter’s league-winning season this year, eight more than Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, who is second on the list.

The league awarded Vlahovic the top attacker, while Michele Di Gregorio of Monza the best custodian.

Martinez’s teammates, Alessandro Bastoni and Hakan Calhanoglu, were awarded best defender and midfielder.

Martinez will receive his trophy on Sunday before Inter’s season concludes in Verona, according to a statement from Serie A.
