Nigeria NFF Fumes With Beninoise FA For Playing Old Anthem

The Nigeria Football Federation has voiced its displeasure with the Beninoise Football Federation’s decision to play the old Nigeria national song before Monday’s FIFA World Cup qualifying defeat in Abidjan.

Dayo Enebi Achor, NFF’s Head of International Competitions, stated that the NFF handed over a recording of Nigeria’s new national anthem to the Benin FA leadership at the Match Coordination Meeting in Abidjan on Sunday evening.

We gave them the recording of our new national anthem, only for them to play the wrong one at the beginning of the match.

“We protested strongly, and insisted that the Super Eagles would not start the second half until the new national anthem of Nigeria was played.”

The Benin FA officials eventually played Nigeria’s new national song before the start of the second half of the match.
