COSAFA Cosafa Cup: Angola Claim Vital Win Against Seychelles

Angola won a key game in Group C of the 2024 COSAFA Cup on Monday coming from behind to defeat Seychelles.

Angola led early against Seychelles, but had to come from behind to win 3-2 in a dramatic match, denying the islands only their second COSAFA Cup win.

Depu put Angola ahead after nine minutes, but Johan Gamatice equalised for Seychelles, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.

Brandon Labrosse put Seychelles ahead within a minute of the restart, but Depu equalised just before the hour mark, and Maestro lived true to his name by scoring the winning goal on 79 minutes.

Seychelles has only once scored more than three goals in a COSAFA Cup campaign, and they still have one game remaining.

That occurred in 2008, when they defeated Mauritius 7-0 for their sole COSAFA Cup victory, and they also scored against Madagascar.
