CAF Champions League Nothing will stop Yanga SC against Marumo Gallants – Mohammed

Young Africans (Yanga SC) defender Ibrahim Mohammed is confident the Tanzanians have what it takes to beat Marumo Gallants of South Africa in the return leg semi-finals clash of the Caf Confederation Cup on Wednesday.

The Jangwani-based giants will head into the fixture at Royal Bafokeng Stadium with a 2-0 goal advantage secured from the first leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and Mohammed insists they have already fixed their eyes to play in the final.

“We are almost halfway stage in the Caf Confederation Cup finals, but we need to work hard in the return leg in order to reach the Cup finals. I can say that nothing will stop us to reach the finals,” said Mohammed as quoted by Tanzania’s daily The Citizen.

“We all know it will not be an easy game, they will come at us but we will play with determination to defend the advantage we have from the first leg, and my urge is for Tanzanians to pray for us and give us moral support.”

Yanga striker Fiston Mayele echoed Mohammed’s sentiments but admitted they are anticipating facing strong opposition than was the case during the first leg.

“The game is going to be difficult because they [Marumo Gallants] are a good team too, and you saw how they performed in our first leg encounter, but we are ready for it, and this is our job,” said Mayele.

Yanga Media Officer Ali Kamwe gave his thoughts on the game: “We are thankful that we arrived here safely [on Sunday], and all team members are in good health, looking forward to the historic match which can take us to the finals.

“It is not going to be an easy encounter, especially because they are at home and have nothing to lose, but we just need to be focused and protect what we already have.”

Yanga left for South Africa having defended the Tanzanian Premier League title for a second successive season. They are chasing a treble as they are still in the domestic cup quarters and the semis of the Caf competition.
