CAF Champions League Yanga SC will not let Tanzanians down against Marumo Gallants – Nabi

Young Africans (Yanga SC) coach Nasreddine Nabi has vowed to make Tanzanians proud when they take on South Africa’s Marumo Gallants in the return leg semi-finals clash of the Caf Confederation Cup on Wednesday.

The Timu ya Mwananchi will enter the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng at 7 pm Tanzanian time with an advantage from the first leg as they won 2-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium a fortnight ago.

Nabi believes his players have done enough homework against Marumo, who have enjoyed a good run of results while playing in their backyard and promised a determined show.

“We are facing a challenging task as we play away against a team with experience in international competitions,” Nabi said as quoted by The Citizen adding: “I am proud of my players, who, I believe, will not let Tanzanians down.”

On Marumo allowing fans to attend the match without paying, the Tunisian coach said: “It’s a good thing that Marumo have planned a match without an entrance fee. As Yanga, we like to play in front of many fans rather than in a stadium without fans. I have players with enough experience to play matches like this”

Yanga captain Bakari Mwamnyeto echoed Nabi’s sentiments insisting they are ready for the task in South Africa.

“It is not going to be an easy match because even Marumo [Gallants] are targeting to register victory as we are, we will fight for the club and for the country as well,” added Mwamnyeto.

Libyan referee Ibrahim Mutaz will take charge of the game assisted by Attia Essa Amsaad, also from Libya, and Tunisian Khalil Hassani. The match’s reserve referee is Mehrez Malki from Tunisia.

The Jangwani-giants will, however, miss the services of Bernard Morisson, who scored the second goal in the first leg. The Ghana midfielder did not travel with Yanga for the clash owing to unavoidable reasons.
