CAF Champions League Why Al Ahly will be under pressure against Wydad AC – Vandenbroek

Wydad AC head coach Sven Vandenbroek has explained why Al Ahly will be under pressure when the two sides face each in the return leg of their Caf Champions League final on Sunday.

The Moroccan giants will be seeking to defend their title by overturning a 2-1 deficit suffered in the first leg meeting at Cairo International Stadium when they host the Egyptian outfit at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.

“Pressure will be on Ahly because we are playing at home and this will be an advantage to us, it will be a different game from the first leg,” the Belgian tactician told reporters as quoted by CafOnline.

With Al Ahly scoring through Percy Tau and Kahraba, Wydad pulled an away goal courtesy of substitute Saifeddine Bouhra and the 48-year-old Vandenbroek believes the away goal will give them some edge in the home game.

“We are in a situation where we must win. Currently, the advantage is on Ahly and we know they will not want to lose that advantage easily. It will be a difficult match but the goal we scored in the first leg gives us some edge,” added Vandenbroek.

He continued: “This is an important match, not only for me, the team, and Wydad supporters, but also for the Moroccan public. A Moroccan team has never won the Champions League back to back and this is a chase for history for us.”

The match will kick off at 20h00 local time (19h00 GMT).
