South African manager Steve Komphela leaves Mamelodi Sundowns as he has been appointed as head coach at Maroka Swallows FC ahead of the 2023/24 season.

“We want to take Swallows FC to the next level and we are very excited to have attracted the services of Coach Komphela.”

Few moments later, his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns’ coaching staff has been confirmed by the Brazilians.
“Mamelodi Sundowns today expressed its best wishes to Steve Komphela on his appointment as the Head Coach of Swallows FC”, Sundowns statement reads.
“Steve Komphela served Mamelodi Sundowns with loyalty and devotion and will always be a member of the Mamelodi Sundowns Family. We wish him everything of the best”, the club’s chairman Tlhopie Motsepe said.
After Martizburg United twice, Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Sundowns to name but a few, this is a new challenge for coach Komphela.
