Finidi George, the head coach of Enyimba, is optimistic that the People’s Elephant will triumph in the inaugural CAF African Football League.

The inaugural competition would include eight teams, including the champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The quarterfinal matchup between the Aba giants and Wydad Casablanca of Morocco will take place the following month.

Al Ahly of Egypt, Esperance of Tunisia, Simba of Tanzania, TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa are the other teams vying for the championship.

Finidi is confident that the teams can win the competition despite the calibre of the other teams.

“Enyimba is a big club and will remain so. We have always do well on the continent and sometimes we are unlucky not to get what we wanted,” Finidi told reporters.

“I believe we can win the African Football League. It’s going to be a difficult task, but it is doable.
