Uncategorised 2026 WCQ : Trezeguet brace hands Egypt second win over 10-man Sierra Leone

The Pharaohs of Egypt snatched all three points from their trip to Sierra Leone in their second 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers thanks to a brace of Aston Villa left-winger Mahmoud Trezeguet.

The Leone Stars believed in their chances to get at least a point against Egypt and that aim was seen in the first 15 minutes of play.

They controlled the game and we’re more dangerous creating chances but we’re a bit less lethal in the final third.

Knowing the game will be tough away, Pharaohs proceeded by counter-attacks to hammer their opponents.

Then in the 18th minute, Mahmoud Trezeguet opened the score against the run of play after a sumptuous back heel assist from Mostafa Mohamed.

That opener was a huge blow for the local team which lost control of it’s temper with Tyresone Fornah being showed the red card in the 34th minute.

With that inferiority, the Leone Stars still managed not to concede another goal before half-time.

But it was just a delay as Mohamed Salah found Trezeguet in the 62nd minute for the second goal which sealed the victory for Pharaohs.

It’s six points in two games for Egypt which comfortably sit on top of their Group pending the matchday 3 and 4 in March 2024 after the AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
