Kano Pillars claimed the highest win on Matchday 11 of the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL with an incredible 5-2 away win against Gombe United.
Matchday 11 of the NPFL produced 18 goals with three games ending in a draw including Heartland FC goalless draw against Shooting Stars in Ibadan.
At the Pantami Stadium, Yusuf Abdullahi, a sensation for Kano Pillars, scored five goals to further worsen Gombe United’s plight as they face relegation.
Remember that in the 2014 Nigerian Premier League, Emem Eduok of the now-defunct Dolphins FC recorded a similar individual feat by scoring six goals against Nembe City.
The lanky forward scored his hat-trick just before the 33rd minute, restoring Pillars’ two-goal advantage.
He then added a fourth goal inside the additional 13 minutes due to stoppages, bringing the total back to two goals.
When Abdullahi scored his fifth goal of the match at the minute mark, the spectators at Pantami Stadium gasped at the incredible individual display of football.
At the Onikan Stadium, Sporting Lagos returned to winning ways with a lone goal win over Katsina United with Clement Naantuam scoring the line goal of the game in the 14th minute.
At Ikenne, Sikiru Alimi pounced on a defensive howler from Plateau United to score in the 61 minutes to hand the Sky Blue a consecutive win .
The victory took Remo Stars to top of the table with 22 points from eleven games.
Earlier on Saturday, Doma United maintained their unbeaten run as they defeated visiting Lobi Stars 1-0 .
