FA Cup Arsenal To Face Liverpool In FA Cup Third Round

In January, Arsenal, the 14-time FA Cup winners, will play host to eight-time champions Liverpool in a highly anticipated third-round match, while fierce rivals Newcastle United and Sunderland will square off at The Stadium of Light.

Arsenal, the top team in the Premier League, will play title rivals Liverpool twice in a short period of time.

On December 23, the two teams will also play a league match, which will take place days before their FA Cup match.

With both teams currently tied at 53 victories apiece in the historic rivalry, the Tyne-Wear derby is undoubtedly the most thrilling match of the third round.

The contest will also have special significance for both sets of fans.

The 2013 FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic take on Manchester United, the defending championteam from the previous season, Manchester City, plays Huddersfield Town.

Brentford plays Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace hosts Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur hosts Burnley in other all-Premier League draws.

League and Championship (second division) teams will join the competition in the third round, with games taking place from January 5 to January 8.

After defeating Yeovil Town in a second-round match later on Sunday, League Two team Wrexham—co-owned by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds—will take on Shrewsbury Town.

League One teams Stevenage and Port Vale will visit non-league Maidstone United, which is guaranteed a spot in the third round.

Eight-time champion Chelsea will host Preston North End, a team in the second division.
