Nigeria Women Football League NWFL: Edo Queens Pip Delta Queens As Royal Queens Get First Win

The Nigeria Women’s Football League NWFL entered Matchday six on Wednesday with some interesting results.

A total of 12 goals was scored in the seven games scheduled for Wednesday as the away team continued to struggle to get a win on the road.

Defending champions, Delta Queens once again slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Edo Queens in the Bendel derby.

Delta Queens let out their guard in the 59th minute as Esther Moses scored the lone goal of the game.

In Akure, Sunshine Queens claimed three points against the newly promoted Remo Stars Ladies.

Akwubo Obianuju broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 36th minute before Chinaza Soroibe doubled the lead just two minutes into the second half.

Isigbo Blessing gave Remo Stars Ladies the hope of a comeback as she scored in the 48th minute to reduce the deficit.

However, despite efforts from the away team to share the spoils, Sunshine Queens held on tenaciously to the lead.

Royal Queens recorded their first win of the season following a 1-0 win over Adamawa Queens in Sapele.

A goal from Raheem Aishat earned the Warri-based team the much-awaited win heading to the yuletide break.

Elsewhere in Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels defeated Ekitit Queens 2-0 courtesy of goals from
Chiamaka Okwuchu and Olamide Adugbe in the first half.

Heartland Queens escaped the threat of Dannaz Ladies as they won by 2-1 with Chinwensu Orji netting the winner in the 90th minute.

Ojiyovwi Kesiena was the beautiful bride as Nasarawa Amazon defeated Confluence Queens by a line goal.
