Tanzania Yanga SC defeat Tabora United to close gap with leaders Azam FC

Young Africans (Yanga SC) punished Tabora United 1-0 in a Tanzanian Premier League fixture at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma on Saturday.

A solitary goal courtesy of Stephanie Aziz Ki made the difference as the visitors picked maximum away points. It was Aziz Ki’s tenth goal of the campaign as he kept commanding the league’s top scorer’s chart.

Following the triumph, Yanga are now just one point away from catching up with leaders Azam as they have 30 points from 11 games while the latter have 31 points after 13 outings. Meanwhile, Tabora United, are still lying 12th on the log with 15 points in the bag and have just won three league encounters.

Meanwhile, the league has been suspended to pave the way for the Mapinduzi Cup and Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals. According to the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), no league fixtures will be played throughout January next year.
