AFCON AFCON 2023: Egypt will go all the way and lift trophy – Mahmoud Trezeguet

Egypt forward Mahmoud Trezeguet has sent a warning to their rivals that they will go all the way and lift the Africa Cup of Nations trophy after sealing their Round of 16 spot in Ivory Coast.

The winger earned Man of the Match honours for a tireless display as Egypt dramatically drew 2-2 with Cape Verde to qualify from Group B.

Trezeguet, who grabbed Egypt’s second equaliser late on, remained bullish about their chances after reaching the knockouts.

Egypt will now face the runner-ups of group F, which includes Morocco, DR Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania and the final standings will be decided on Wednesday.

“I promise the Egyptian people to bring back the Africa Cup of Nations title to Egypt,” he said after receiving his man of the match award, adding: “We will fight until the end to claim the title. God willing there is no worry about the Round of 16 encounter, and the true spirit of the Egyptian national team will be evident in the upcoming rounds.

“Without any arrogance, we are Egypt, and it doesn’t matter who we face in the Round of 16; We are the source of concern for our opponents.”
